Arno Elias is an artist from Paris, he is a painter, photographer and musician whose works have been featured globally in exhibitions and have been reviewed in many revered publications. Through combining painting and photography he creates these collage like compositions featuring popular icons, these mixed media productions are incredibly enticing due to their complexity. He seamlessly intertwines various photographs and paint with plexiglass as well as various minerals creating powerful cohesive works of art through careful manipulation. It seems as though he uses digital media and modern printing technology to achieve such a cohesive look. Although I could not find out exactly how he achieves the look it appears as if he uses photoshop to layer and adjust the opacity of the various photo images and printers designed to print on canvas where he either has already painted and or continues to paint after printing. In addition to adding paint he adds an assortment of graffiti like characters that are his trademark or as he says, “his signature.” It is a language of symbols he has created that add some of his personality to the collages simultaneously enhancing the aesthetic. The mixed media painting collages are only one of the avenues of new media he explores, Arno also creates art videos to music he himself has composed as well as to the music of others. He creates videos that are somewhat spiritual, powerful collages of images both natural and icon related, similar to his mixed media paintings yet in the form of video. These videos are works of art that become one with the music making the music not only an audio experience but a visual experience.
