Homework #4 (1) Create at least 1 drawing and 1 painting on either one or two of those devices: a computer, a tablet, and/or a smartphone; using a keyboard, your fingers, or a stylus. Put some time into this and see how far you can get to make this a creative outlet.
This is a painting I did using Photoshop. While painting people or still lives, I typically use a photo or model for reference, so it was only natural to me to use a photo as a reference while working in photoshop. Prior to painting I usually throw these reference photos into photoshop and put them through filters in order to make it easier for myself to transfer the image into a painting, so I went about this process as I normally would except selected a filter with a more digitized aesthetic. Once I found a filter that I liked, I added a new layer on top. This new layer was to serve as my canvas, yet it was transparent as if I was painting on top of the photograph until the photograph was no longer visible. It was almost as if I was tracing, which is an easy almost shortcut like practice when using paper and pen, but when taking this in photoshop it was incredibly difficult. I was constantly comparing the existing work to my new work. Although it was conflicting while going through the process the outcome was amazingly realistic. It was the first time I did anything like this and it was extremely tedious, but worthwhile in the end!
