Homework #3 (2) Write a blog entry about the piece of technology which you brought into class and share your reflections/notes from the class. Create a lesson plan for a group of students of your choice. Try to focus this lesson plan on how you could use this tool creatively in an art class. Think from an artistic point of view, not from a technological one. If this seems difficult, describe the difficulties.
The day I found out that I had gotten into Teachers College I was on my way home from spring break in Mexico, I was in the airport and decided to splurge on a pair of Beats by Dre. They were my gift to myself for all the hard work I put in during my undergrad and during the application process (even though I bought them on my mom's credit card which she was definitely not thrilled about.) I use them almost every day and every time I use them or even glance at them I think about my previous scholastic success and my future success to come.
In my lesson plan designed for students ranging in age from 8 to 13, several students would volunteer to bring in a set of headphones from their house, and several students would volunteer to bring in mp3 players or walkmans (for those who do not have extras will be provided. The students would be broken up into pairs, one student would put on the set of headphones and listen to a song of their choice and have the duration of the song to draw or paint whatever the song influenced them to paint, yet they would be discouraged to paint objects or words, simply strokes of color or shapes. After the song was over the student’s partner would need to guess the mood of the song or even the subject. The pairs would alternate several times and then each student would post on the wall their most successful portrayal of what they were listening to and the class and teacher would discuss the works as a whole, pointing out trends in describing certain moods etc.
