I am a designer who has dabbled in fine arts, my name is Allison Hertz and I am a recent graduate with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Syracuse University’s College of Visual Arts. As an undergraduate student my major was in Advertising Design where I learned the creative process behind advertising campaigns, from brainstorming and conceptualizing to using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to create the final print ads and mock ups of web banners, micro-sites, guerrilla elements, packaging and more. While at Syracuse University I took a variety of “traditional” fine art studios in wheel throwing, drawing, fashion drawing and painting to diversify my arts background. In addition to schooling I worked with a ceramic artist at an art camp in New York who helped me hone my skills in Ceramics. In addition to being a student at Teachers College on track for initial certification in Art and Art Education I am interning part time at a social media start up, Ology.com. At Ology I am currently working with the CEOs and design team to mock up the site for its upcoming relaunch. Using photoshop I work on everything from the layouts to the individual icons focusing on achieving a successful user experience. This is the extent of New Media that I have engaged in, I look forward to working with more New Media in the future.
